My First Official Wedding as a Photographer

My first official wedding! I was so excited to photograph Carlos and Claudia’s wedding day. It was a backyard wedding located in Central Florida at a cousin’s house. The bride’s Aunt Lou booked me as a wedding gift to the happy couple. I prepared as much as I could and set out to capture memories. The day had its challenges though. The bride spoke very little english and I speak no spanish. Their entire family immigrated from Cuba. While I could not tell you what was said during the speeches, I could tell you it was heartfelt. I decided a documentary approach would be best. And I LOVED it! It allowed the guests and the couple to be fully present. It has steered my approach to weddings. I don’t want it to feel like a photoshoot. By being a fly on the wall, I was able to capture raw, emotional moments. And now I get to take what I learn to future weddings!
